Happiness

Happiness: The Little Things That Make Your Heart Smile

Sometimes, I wonder if we’re asking the wrong question. We spend so much time chasing happiness as if it’s some elusive party guest, dressed in glitter, arriving only when everything aligns perfectly. But what if happiness isn’t about the confetti and champagne? What if it’s quieter, smaller, and far more ordinary?

Happiness isn’t always laughter and sunshine. Sometimes, it’s the soft sigh you let out when you sink into your favourite chair after a long day. Sometimes, it’s that fleeting smile that sneaks across your face because a stranger held the door open or your coffee tasted just right. It’s not always dramatic or Instagram-worthy; it’s often subtle, tucked into the corners of everyday life.

Happiness can be feeling content. It can be the warmth of being around your favourite people, whether they know you perfectly or are perfectly imperfect strangers who somehow make you feel seen. It can be finishing a book that spoke to your soul, listening to a song that makes you feel alive, or catching a glimpse of the sunset painting the sky just so, did someone say ‘golden hour?’.

Maybe happiness isn’t something we chase after at all. Maybe it’s in noticing the little sparks, the moments that quietly make life feel a little lighter, a little warmer, a little more… ours. And maybe, just maybe, the smallest smiles, (whether from yourself or others) are enough to make your heart feel full.

So tonight, I’ll put my fluffy robe on, slip on my favourite slippers, and remember that happiness isn’t a grand arrival. It’s the soft, subtle things we often forget to notice. And isn’t that enough?
